I have to say that this comment elicited one reaction from me

Apparently Dana Perino doesn't pay attention to what the people she works for does over there on Pennsylvania Avenue.
She said that the administration is “deeply disappointed” by the measure, which suspends the country’s constitution, and believes it is never “reasonable” to “restrict constitutional freedoms in the name of fighting terrorism”:

Q: Is it ever reasonable to restrict constitutional freedoms in the name of fighting terrorism?

MS. PERINO: In our opinion, no.

This brought on only one response from me, and I think it's appropriate...

Tuesday Nooner

"When you have examined all the illusions of life and know that there isn't any reality, but you nevertheless go on, then you are a mature human being. You accept the idea that it is all mask and illusion and that people are in disguise. You see the crumbling of reality and you accept it." -Marguerite Young

Sorry for the delay folks, been reading various this and thats and it slowed down today's posting. For those of you who care, my stats from yesterday's game were...

2 innings 0.00 ERA for the win, 1-1 with 1 RBI.

Now allow me to guide you through some of the blogosphere this morning...

Governor Spitzer of New York will be pushing forward a bill to legalize same-sex marriage in his state. This is great progress for the nation, if a place like New York legalizes it I can only imagine how many other states will follow suit.

The Office of Special Counsel is going forward with an investigation into Karl Rove and some of the other Administration cronies. Check out the link to see why this is even more interesting then a congressional investigation.

Speaking of Rove and the Administration, there may be some new evidence about the 2004 Election and Ohio. Namely that for some reason the Secretary of State website that published the results for some reason went from a state government server to the very same server that holds those missing emails from the RNC.

This is just an example of one of the reasons I vow never to go into Georgia again. Just the plain ignorance and stupidity of some of its residents.

Kryptonite apparently exists, it's just a shame that it doesn't work on Karl Rove and Faux News.

If you need any evidence that the VA Tech shooter was just batshit insane, just check out what else he bought on eBay. I know people OBSESSED with ducks that would NEVER purchase those just for their own amusement.

Rep Feney, who has long been suspected of being part of the Abramoff group of Reps, is finally being investigated even if he is doing so "voluntarily". This likely comes as a former aide has just been busted for being one of Abramoff's loyal soldiers on Capitol Hill.

It is rare that I find a church that attempts to do good, but there such a church in Indianapolis it appears. Though local fundies apparently hate to hear evidence that disprove their homophobic beliefs. My hat goes off to a church that actually attempts to teach the REAL teachings of Jesus Christ, not the teachings of old white men who love power and have their own skewed beliefs.

Just in case you were wondering, Chuck Norris gives us HIS opinion on why the VA Tech shootings took place. I wonder though, is this because he has become a right wing fundy or after decades of karate and movies, he thinks that the shooter was an extra in one of his Missing In Action movies, one wonders.

Sick To My Stomach

Via Kileen Daily Herald:
History will be made today when Copperas Cove resident Bill Thomas and his wife, Georgia, present President George W. Bush with a Purple Heart at the Oval Office.

Thomas said he and his wife came up with the unprecedented idea to present the president with the Purple Heart over breakfast one morning a few months ago as they discussed the verbal attacks, both foreign and domestic, the commander in chief has withstood during his time in office.

"We feel like emotional wounds and scars are as hard to carry as physical wounds," Thomas said.

The medal was awarded to Thomas on Dec. 18, 1965, following injuries he sustained while serving in heavy combat with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam.

Excuse me?! A man who hid from Vietnam thanks to DADDY and has done more harm to this great country then Osama Bin Laden is being given a purple heart by some senile old man for "emotional woulds and scars"? Does this man not read the news about how this man does not care about mental health of our troops what so ever?

Someone needs to remind sparky that we appreciate that he suffered three wounds resulting in purple hearts, but this man is not Eisenhower, hell this man isn't even LBJ. This is a man who forces the military to send soldiers to Iraq who have suffered brain damage. When one looks at LaVena Johnson, Pat Tillman, Walter Reed and the numerous suicides that is happening to our veterans of the Iraq War how can you not be physically ill?

Bushies

I know we of the blogosphere love to point out the faults of the Bush administration. I wish upon wish that it was things that were menial and not that important or cost human lives which the Republicans so love to claim they cherish, but sadly this is not the case. Especially when your Humanitarian Ambassador for Sudan doesn't believe there is genocide taking place there.

So in the last month or so we have lawyers from a college run by a TV nutjob running the DOJ, the Humanitarian Ambassador telling us that the sky is purple, and then we have the final report about something we all already knew, that abstinence only programs don't work.

Finally, the VA Tech Shootings has turned into the worst campus shooting in American history, with 21 people killed. I really worry where the media is going to take this with the anniversary of Columbine coming up in a few days. I have a good number of friends who are VA Tech alumni and I know today has been tough on them. You never want your college known as the place where this will become its history. Again, thoughts, prayers, etc go out to all the family and friends of the fallen.

Science Class

From Noodle:
Bushcronium

Mark it on your Periodic Table........................................

The densest element yet known to science has been discovered. The new Element has been named "Bushcronium". Bushcronium has one neutron, one vice neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 224 deputy assistant neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 911. These particles are held together by dark forces called morons, and are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

The symbol for Bushcronium is "W".

Bushcronium's mass actually increases, over time, as these morons randomly interact with various elements in the atmosphere and become deputy assistant neutrons in a Bushcronium molecule, forming a large cluster of idiotopes. This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Bushcronium is formed whenever morons reach a critical mass also known as a "Critical Morass".

When catalyzed with money, Bushcronium activates Foxnewsium, an element radiating several orders of magnitude more energy, mostly as incoherent noise, since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

I have a theory that the truth is never told during the nine-to-five hours. -HST

Alright, I'll admit right now that I have been somewhat absent when it comes to talking about the various political shit storm that has brewing in this country for the last few weeks. I think I figure a good portion of you go out to C&L, ShakesSis, Reason or any other plethora of blogs to get your daily political bullshit. I know back during the election time I tended to rant and rave politics, policy and election but I suppose it may have just been a way for me to try to get some of you off your collective asses, rally, vote, do something so I don't have to since my only plans is to burn everything down to the foundation and start fresh. Well, maybe not everything I'd leave Yellowstone and Yosemite intact, but then they are some of the most beautiful places on this planet.

I know were turned off by the ranting and raving so I tried to go a different route, I tried to talk about things other blogs don't talk about. I tried to be an amalgam of various things as I had no desire to become a member of Edwards' staff, though you'd be damned to see me cave in to those assholes from Fox. In case you're listening Brit Humme, Chris Wallace, Billzzaro, Andy Coultre, Michelle Malkins and Sean Hannity bring all the verbal tirades you want to bring against me. Call me every name in the book, harass me, my friends, my family and my neighbors bedpost that rocks for twenty seconds every night. I will flat out tell you my opinion and I will be damned if you're going to attempt to make me feel bad, embarrassed or anything I don't want to feel. Hell, I'd take an open invitation to your studio for an interview. Then I would have to recreate the infamous night that Brian Pillman debuted in ECW.

Did I ever write that I had a problem with Catholicism, you're god damned right I did. Do I have a problem with organized religion, I guess one would be wise to make that assumption. Do I hate all Christians, certainly not I love my family. Do I believe a great deal of you are more dangerous then terrorists? A hundred fuckin percent and then some. Personally, there's not enough bullets for what I would like to do to a great many of you, and none of it involves murder or assassination, that's what you and yours propagate.

Now then, where to begin on the latest political happenings in the world? I mean there are so many choices, we could talk about the 8 attorney firings which I covered back in the summer when it first came to light but the MSM took their sweet time to pay attention to it. How with each and every day it looks more and more like political actions, and in one case (Carol Lam) where it becomes more and more obvious to me that the Department of Justice obstructed justice to protect some of their friends. Is Berto Gonzo going to resign, without a doubt. Though I would much rather him resign over treating the Constitution like toilet paper then over the attorney debacle.

Then you have General Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joints Chief who evidently has a problem with homosexuality. That's nice, there's a good portion of the population who actually WANT to serve in the military when they need it most so they don't keep sending back troops who are physically unfit to fight back to Iraq. According to Gen. Pace he doesn't believe in immorality, and that's why we are fighting for for people to have morals and principles. Really...wow...cause you know one cannot have morals or principles without fighting for them. Morals and principles have always been then main thing crushed by dictators, what was I thinking.

I mean I very well could continue to go on and on about the continual bullshit that this administration is dishing out. If you would like, I know Anita and I are planning this and I'd like to invite everyone out to join us as we March on the Pentagon.

One steps from the shadows

Last night on 24 we saw someone finally "put all his cards on the table", that of course being the Clint Howard of Jack Bauer, Graem. He finally began to show the man we've seen before this season and doesn't appear to be acting anymore around his family. Which, although we are very saddened that Donald isn't playing Jack's father, the decision to have James Cromwell to play his father is genius. I have always been a fan of his work and it's nice to see 24 grab an actor who is famous but not that famous. I think he is a great addition to the show and we will really dig into Jack's family life and find out how he turned into the Batman without a Cape and Cowl.

Courtesy of The New York Times:
President Bush has signed a directive that gives the White House much greater control over the rules and policy statements that the government develops to protect public health, safety, the environment, civil rights and privacy.

In an executive order published last week in the Federal Register, Mr. Bush said that each agency must have a regulatory policy office run by a political appointee, to supervise the development of rules and documents providing guidance to regulated industries. The White House will thus have a gatekeeper in each agency to analyze the costs and the benefits of new rules and to make sure the agencies carry out the president’s priorities.

This strengthens the hand of the White House in shaping rules that have, in the past, often been generated by civil servants and scientific experts. It suggests that the administration still has ways to exert its power after the takeover of Congress by the Democrats.

The White House said the executive order was not meant to rein in any one agency. But business executives and consumer advocates said the administration was particularly concerned about rules and guidance issued by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Yes, it is that kind of thing about the signing statements and the like that scare the ever living shit out of me, and should scare the Republican minority cause if the trend continues they won't have the oval office or Congress in 2008 and there will be nothing to stop the Democrats from instituting their "Un-American" values.

I have to go to a farewell luncheon today, I shall have more once I return.
